Meet Vivian Tahmasbi, PharmD. Vivian is a Staff Pharmacist, working closely with injured workers and their treating physician to ensure exceptional prescription care. As a former retail Pharmacist, Vivian understands the health care landscape, but it wasn’t until she joined the IWP team that she fully understood how critically important pain management is to people injured on the job. She lends her clinical expertise to our patients and their providers every day and has without a doubt made a difference in their lives.
Without of her day-to-day responsibilities, you can find Vivian blogging for IWP or playing a round of golf with her fiancé. Get a glimpse into Vivian’s life here at IWP and learn what she’s most proud of both professional and personally.
The most rewarding part of my job is providing injured workers the best heath care possible. It is very rewarding to know that my patients are being taken care of and that I have the time and ability to help them as much as I can.
Coming from working at a retail pharmacy, I did not see many pain management patients. Patients that are constantly in pain do everything they can just to get through the day. I never realized how many patients are impacted by work injuries, and the repercussions that come with it.
Almost every patient I speak with now tells me they would love to go back to work, but just can’t. With this, I have made it a priority to educate myself more on pain management in order to better provide counseling to my patients to help them get back on their feet.
I feel most fulfilled when I implement positive change within the pharmacy. I attended a compounding training last year that certified me on non-sterile compounding. With this, I have been updating our standards of procedures, training, and documentation requirements. When I get to see my hard work being put into action, I feel most fulfilled.
IWP stands above and beyond other pharmacies, thanks to the quality of care and dedication to provide exceptional service. We are here for our patients and will do anything to make sure the patient is under the right care. Our Pharmacists are able to spend time getting to know our patients, learning about their home life and unique health needs. Retail pharmacists unfortunately just don’t have the time to do that.
I love to spend time with my family, my puppy, and play golf. When I was younger, I never thought I would become interested in golf. I have always been very competitive and love team sports, but I never realized the internal competition that drives golf players.
I feel most proud of obtaining 8 state pharmacy licenses in 2019. This not only required lots of studying and practice tests, but also required me to travel and meet with some state Board of Pharmacies. This was not an easy accomplishment to obtain with the many distractions of daily life, but I am proud to say that I am now licensed in 10 states!
