What's happening this week in workers' compensation? IWP's weekly legislative wrap-up, State of the States, keeps you up to date on important matters within the workers' compensation and pharmacy arena.
This week's legislative wrap-up contains updates including:
- In Massachusetts, ride-hailing and app-based delivery companies, including Lyft, Uber, and DooDash, among others, have filed a petition for a ballot initiative that would keep gig economy workers classified as independent contractors.
- The New Hampshire House of Representatives designated September 16 as a working session on a bill that would expand workers' compensation benefits regarding prophylactic treatment for critical exposure.
- A study by the University of California - Davis reveals that opioid tapering results in higher rates of overdoses and psych issues for high-dose users.
