The assessment will increase next year after a decrease in 2024. The total assessment for 2025 is set at $9.202 million, up from $7.225 million last year, and slightly higher than the $9 million in 2023. The board will apply a 9% reconciliation factor for 2025, a calculation introduced in 2019 to address routine shortfalls in collections due to outdated statistics.

HB 6295 aims to provide a clearer definition of personal injury within the context of workers’ compensation, introduce new language regarding disability eligibility, and establish penalties for violations.

If enacted, this bill will enhance transparency by mandating that PBMs disclose pricing and rebate details. It will also establish standards for PBM operations to promote fair competition and safeguard consumers. Additionally, the bill will revise the reimbursement process for pharmacies to ensure they receive fair compensation for medications.

IWP State Icons GrayBlue _NewYorkNew York The New York State Department of Labor (NYSDOL) recently released comprehensive guidance to help employers better protect outdoor workers during extreme cold weather. During extreme cold events, the guidance advises employers to engage in best practices such as limiting outdoor work, providing frequent breaks in warm areas, and scheduling outdoor work during the warmest times of the day. Employers should also ensure access to clean drinking water and have a written plan for handling acclimatization, extreme cold preparedness, and emergency response. Additionally, it is important to train workers and supervisors annually on cold preparedness plans and to recognize the symptoms of cold-related illnesses like hypothermia and frostbite.

The bill aims to exempts certain practitioners from the requirement to issue electronic prescriptions for controlled dangerous substances. This allows them to continue using paper prescriptions under specific conditions. The bill aims to provide flexibility for practitioners who may face challenges with electronic prescribing, ensuring they can still prescribe necessary medications without technological barriers.

IWP State Icons GrayBlue _TexasTexas The Texas Division of Workers’ Compensation announced a 3.5% increase in conversion factors. For services provided in the calendar year 2025, the new Medical Fee Guideline conversion factor will be $70.18, up from $67.81 in 2024.
